Privacy policy — Yaplet for Google Meet
Last updated: October 8, 2026
Yaplet for Google Meet estimates speaking time during Google Meet calls. Its processing and meeting history stay in your browser. The extension does not send meeting data to its developer or to external servers.
Information processed
- Audio: The extension accesses your microphone and remote audio streams available in the Google Meet tab to measure audio levels and estimate whether you or others are speaking. Audio samples are processed temporarily in memory. The extension does not save audio recordings, transcribe speech, or identify people by their voices.
- Meeting information: It reads the meeting code, meeting name when available, mute state, participant count, and visible participant tiles, including their display names, participant identifiers, and speaking indicators.
- Local history: It saves meeting codes and available meeting names, session identifiers, timestamps, durations, speaking-time totals and shares, participant counts, and per-person identifiers, display names, and speaking-time totals in Chrome's local extension storage.
- Preferences: It saves your speaking-share thresholds locally.
This information supports the live meter, per-person speaking list, session recovery, and recurring-meeting history. The extension runs on https://meet.google.com/*; it does not track your activity on other websites or access your Google account credentials.
Storage, retention, and deletion
The extension uses chrome.storage.local, not Chrome Sync or a developer-operated database. Up to 500 sessions are retained; older sessions are removed when that limit is exceeded. Otherwise, history remains until you delete it or uninstall the extension.
To delete saved meeting history, leave all Google Meet calls first, then open the extension popup and choose Clear history. An active call continues saving its current session, so clearing history during a call can recreate that session. Uninstalling the extension removes its local extension storage, including preferences.
The extension does not add its own encryption to Chrome's local storage. Protect access to your device and browser profile.
Sharing
The extension contains no advertising, analytics, telemetry, or remote code. The developer does not receive your meeting data through the extension. Data is not sold, used for advertising, or transferred to data brokers.
If you click Download image, the extension generates a PNG of the Yaplet widget or saved meeting summary locally and downloads it to your device. The image can include the meeting date, participant names, and speaking-time statistics. It does not capture the surrounding Google Meet page, video tiles, audio, or transcripts. The extension does not send this image automatically; if you share it through another application, that application and its recipients receive it.
Google Meet processes call data independently under Google's own policies. This policy describes only the Yaplet extension.
Limited use
Yaplet for Google Meet uses user data only to provide its speaking-time features and user-requested summary exports. Its use of user data complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
